To develop effective policies aimed at maintaining
a quality tourism industry in order to sustain a strong economy in which the
residents of the Cayman Islands can continue to enjoy a high standard of living;
to develop appropriate policies for the departments, units and statutory authorities
for which the Ministry has responsibility in order to ensure they are efficiently
managed and provide the service which their customers require.
To manage and administer the affairs of the Ministry; to develop and review
policies in respect to the subjects of environmental issues; transport related
activities; fire, transport related activities, and the promotion and development
of appropriate local tourism related activities.
1. Developed and introduced
Laws and amendments for Department of Tourism, Fire, Public Works, Vehicle
and Equipment Services, Vehicle Licensing Unit, Port Authority and the Tourism
Attractions Board.
2. Successfully launched
the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame, a new attraction for the diving
industry.
3. Pedro St. James
and Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park have been successfully marketed to cruise
ships and are being sold as pre-booked tours.
4. Completed the formulation
of the National Roads Plan.
1. To develop and
introduce policies for the Department of Tourism, Fire, Environment, Vehicle
Licensing Unit, Port Authority and Civil Aviation.
2. To increase the
number of cruise ship visitors by establishing the infrastructure to accommodate
cruise ships in other areas of the island.
3. To increase the
number of stay over visitors by enhancing Marketing Strategies and encouraging
additional airlift strategic locations, including Europe and South America.
4. To enhance and upgrade
land based tourism attractions namely Hell and Cayman Turtle Farm.
5. To encourage the
establishment of a Land & Sea Co-operative.
